Mothers Morning Out, Cowichan Valley
Tuesday September 15th to Tuesday June 22nd 2010 (Tues.)

Need a small getaway from the stress of rearing preschoolers? Want to get together with other adults for some support or much needed social time?
Mother's Morning Out is a free drop in program for mothers and children from birth to 5 years.
Thursday November 5th to Friday June 18th 2010 (Mon., Tues., Wed., Thurs., Fri.)
9:00am to 11:00am
Families are invited to attend with their preschoolers for play, songs, stories and crafts. Connect with other families from our community and take part in our activities for that day. We have something different every day of the week and sometimes we invite members from the community to talk to us about common interests.
Saturday March 6th 2010

This course will prepare you for injuries and emergencies in your daycare or at home. Certificate is valid for three years and is recognized by VIHA Community Care Facilities Licensing.

Come explore this new educator's guide, it supports educators of school age children in getting students outside and engaged in experiencing the outdoor classroom. Cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. This cost includes the educators guide. Registration is required.

Workshop #3 in a series of 3 presented by staff from the Children's Development Services at the Clements Centre.
"Social Communication" Speech & Language Pathologists with the Children's Development Services at the Clements Centre will address how to help children who have difficulty communicating within a social context. Strategies are structured around daily routines eg: arrival, free play, snack, circle, transitions. As there are a maximum of 20 participants, please register early. $15.00-CCRR clients $20.00-Non-CCRR clients Please arrive by 8:45am Registration by mail only. Join Vincenza Gruppuso, Ph.D. for an informative and insightful workshop on establishing and maintaining a good relationship with the parents of the children in your setting. Vincenza will give you ideas about how to have a supportive relationship with the families in your care, whereby a foundation can be set so that you will be able to discuss difficult topics with the parents with confidence. Later in the day, Vincenza will also discuss how to approach parents respectfully when you believe a professional assessment of a child in your care may be required.

Occupational Therapist Limor Holla with the Children's Delevopment Services at the Clements Cente will discuss supporting young children with sensory-development needs and how to identify those children's challenges early.

Daycare Playgroup, Sooke

Join our Daycare Drop-In at the Sooke location for arts and crafts, tumble area, and free play space. Daycare Providers can find support with each other and from the Child Care Resource and Referral Consultant on site.

Social time for kids and parents! This facilitated group includes arts & crafts, shared snack time, and circle time. A great opportunity to meet others in the community and build your own support circles! Suggested donation $2 per child and shared healthy snack.

Every other Thursday
Parents under 25 years old, this group is especially for you and your children to find mutual support. Also, get parenting ideas and information from the Public Health Nurse and Child Development Consultant. These interactive, fun sessions are for both you and your child.

For a change of scenery, bring your Daycare kids out to the facilitated Westshore Daycare Drop-In. Opportunities for the children to do arts and crafts, free play, and circle time. Adults can network, and find support and information from their Child Care Resource and Referral Consultant. Please note that because the program is located at Wishart Elementary School, the program is closed on all school closure days (professional development, holidays, etc).

10:00-2:00 Play Time 10:30 Story and Rhyme Time Fridays, at 1:15 pm, Liyus Siiye 'yu-"Happy Friends" joins in for a music time which incorporates the Hul'q'umi'num' language. Each week has a new Themed story as well as rhymes, crafts and games.
